Helen Morton was a winner against all odds. Her pluck and determination helped her overcome a series of debilitating diseases, including polio. After teaching school, she studied medicine and opened a practice as a pediatrician, helping mostly the poorer class in Richmond, Virginia. Following retirement from the health service of a California college she volunteered as a medical missionary to the mountain people of Thailand--where she was murdered.
