Through his lifetime Knox boldly preached the Word. He may not have had a clear understanding of the principle of the separation of church and state, but on the whole his endeavors and his staunch attitude served the interests of Scotland to the best advantage at that time.

John Knox has gone down in history not only as a great Scottish reformer, but also as a statesman and patriot of his country.
