CALAMITY JANE is the new forest friend that joins the huge Sam Campbell family that started with How's Inky...Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo...and many others.
CALAMITY JANE is a large raccoon that has had four new babies this spring. We see how she raises them—teaches them the ways of the forest, teaches them how to protect themselves, teaches them all the things so necessary to life in their world.
CALAMITY JANE is captured by hunters. Being a wily and winsome raccoon, she wins the affection of her captors. She is finally freed and rejoins her own family. She is well pleased and happy to see how well her family has profited by the lessons she taught them, and there is a joyful reunion before settling down for their winter sleep.
One of her family has had a wonderful time all summer, living with and being loved by Jones family. Farmer Jones and his family have been amused and amazed by the coonlet. Her mischief and her antics have provided the family with one of the most exciting summers they have ever had.
