Children need to be taught. This fact is so obvious that to express it would seem to be a waste of time. But taught what? The old stand-bys, the Three R's? Plus a number of other subjects that were added since the three R's were invented.
These subjects are doubtless all necessary. But how about teaching obedience? And honesty? And how to do a good day's work? How about teaching children to worship God? And to have good manners? While other subjects are multiplied, many feel that these "old-fashioned" virtues are disappearing by default. In fact, one might be tempted to think that today's children cannot be taught them.
We admit that our cultural tide is running against the possibility. But children can still be taught these virtues. In fact, if they are not taught them, then our whole way of life is in grave danger. It is for this reason that this book is made available to parents and parents-to-be.
