"Christ should have come many years ago. But we are still here," Morris Venden declares. "It isn't God's fault that we're still here, nor that of some leaders of our church. We are still here because of us."

Israel failed to enter the Promised Land because of unbelief and thus condemned themselves to wander in the desert. "Modern Israel," Venden writes, "has failed to enter the heavenly Canaan and has been wandering in a spiritual wilderness."

What mistakes did ancient Israel make after the Exodus? What lessons do God's ancient people have to teach us from their experience in the desolate wilderness of Sinai?

Comparing the Exodus and Advent movements, Morris Venden draws out the parallels between the experiences of the two groups of God's people. He shows the secrets of spiritual strength, of dependence on God. Venden deals with such questions as, What is the purpose of church organization? How does God look at offshoots, fanatics, fringe movements? Is the God of the Old Testament as much a God of love as the God of the New Testament? Is the theme of "Salvation by Faith in Christ" only a New Testament concept?
