The spaceship is hurtling through the vast emptiness of outer space. On board, the passengers don't even know their terrible predicament. An evil usurper sits at the controls, and he wants to obliterate all communication with Mission Control. And the passengers have sided with him.
It sounds like science fiction, doesn't it? But it isn't. You and I are the ill-fated passengers. A deep rupture mars God's creation, we are confined to Spaceship Earth. Our free access to Mission Control has been cut off, and most of us don't even care. We're hopelessly lost. Well, not quire--the God-man between has come to our rescue. There is a Mediator between Deity and humanity, Jesus Christ. His job is to gather and to reconcile. He has restored communication with Mission Control.
The task is very difficult, but Jesus, our mediator, is trusted and trustworthy and able. "He ever liveth to make intercession." The Godhead has taken up residence in Jesus Christ and through Him reaches out to rescue us. God has not abandoned us--even though we have abandoned Him.
