"Every now and then I bump into childhood friends," writes the author of this book. "Some of them are now grown-up gangsters. They look at me as if I had chosen a life style that resembles a concentration camp or a monastery. In their view, I am on the inside, robbed of my freedom, while they are on the outside, laughing at me--the fool."

It is not merely gangsters who see law as stifling, constrictive. Some Christians view even God's law in this way. Only love, they hold, is liberating, positive. The ten-commandment law is negative, legalistic. It suffocates Christian spontaneity.

This view can be subtly convincing if one does not understand the true nature of God's law, and the spiritual truth that it can be obeyed only in freedom. It is this truth that Dr James Londis sets out to demonstrate in this book.
