Shelley was a city girl, no doubt about it. And when her family took her--dragged her--to the wilds of Oregon it was simply exile. And would you believe the nearest neighbor her age was a tall skinny mouse--a creep? This fellow liked skunks and fainting robins and dead flowers--all kinds of unpleasant things, actually. But of course there was the snow--great, fluffy piles of it, and the squirrel family that neatly tucked away ten pounds of grain, and orioles--these things were nice.
