Quiet faith and aggressive victory have marked the ministry of E. L. Martin, saw miller, engineer, seaman, pilot, and--above all--minister of the gospel. As these pages reveal, Pastor and Mrs. Martin devoted the early years of their ministry to the people of the Solomon Islands and of Papua, New Guinea, where travel by sea and air provide adventures in themselves.
At the time of this writing he was the pastor of two churches in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, but has since passed away leaving behind this account of spiritual strength and trust in God.
As you read I Saw God's Hand you will see Elwyn Martin as a student of Australasian Missionary College (now Avondale College); watch him dig into his first mission assignments at Batuna, Solomon Islands; and follow him along the foot trails and seaways of Papua. You will recognize that when he is on God's errands, he rarely accepts No for an answer. The results have been notable--to put it mildly.
