Author Lois Erickson portrays a biblical love story through the eyes of Leah, Jacob's wife. It's most unlikely that you will ever see Jacob and his household as a vague, dusty characters wandering about in the book of Genesis. In this story, it brings them to life as real-life characters, and Jacob as the God-fearing man he was.
To understand Leah's world, Lois N Erickson visited ancient markets in Istanbul, Dacca, and Old Jerusalem. In Beersheba she rubbed a sheep to feel its wool and smoothed the hair of a goat. She visited shepherds in Kashmir and rode a camel in Egypt.
