One morning Jerry Gladson arrived early at his graduate class. Outside, autumn leaves covered the ground and squirrels dashed around, taking acorns to their nests. As he reviewed the assignment for the day, Mary, another student, walked in. "I don't know why you bother to study," she said, "or why I'm even here. We're just like the squirrels outside--we're born, we live, die, and pass into oblivion. What's the meaning of life, anyway?"
The question caught Gladson off guard. Many years later, he wrote this book to clearly present the Christian's answer to "What is the meaning of life?"
The author shows that human life is like physical space--it has a number of dimensions. Life has physical, mental, and social aspects. Then it has a fourth dimension, the spiritual, which encompasses them all.
His writing, rich with anecdotes and research, shows how men and women can attain total fulfillment in each of these dimensions. Truths about physical fitness, mental health, social relations, and spiritual well-being come into sharp focus and fit together as parts of a balanced philosophy.
