What a minister has to offer fellow workers in Christ's vineyard is a richer way of life, a better way to feel about one's relationship with God, with neighbors, and with oneself. Although that is powerful motivation needed, a parish leader must still communicate his or her own personal commitment in such a way that the Christian lifestyle becomes meaningful and rewarding to the parishioners. This is no easy assignment in today's congregations, which are often made up of people with differing backgrounds, interests, and economic levels. Nor is it made simpler by living in a technological society where material goals and conflicting standards of ethics are so openly dangled before the world's humanity.
