"You're the splitting image of your father, Archie--the way you act, the way you look. You'll end up just like him...." "NO! Stop" Archie screamed back. "I'm not like that man! I will neve be like him. I won't make everyone suffer while I drown my troubles in vodka. I'm never gonna drink, you'll see!"
The words whirled through Archie's pounding head. He hadn't meant to start drinking. He had only meant to fit in. To be a man. All the men in town drank. Even the priest. It was expected. Archie stared at the empty glass on the counter, and suddenly he felt sick. That's the twelfth one tonight, he thought to himself. I'm not just like my father, I'm a lot worse!
Was he doomed to be like his father? Desperately Archie cried to God. And through a miracle, God set him free.
