This book was written as a documentation of my personal quest for a truthful knowledge of healing. The search led into broad and varied pathways--history, mythology, psychology, spiritualism, modern and ancient medicine, and religion. It was a trip I needed to take, far beyond my normal boundaries of technical medicine.

While I do not expect all readers to agree with every conclusion that I draw, I would ask that we each look at this material honestly. Do not take the references to your healing philosophy personally, but instead look at the origins and roots of each method of healing. To truly understand healing, we must go far beyond the superficial evaluation.

In the final analysis, this is a spiritual book. The Scriptures tell us that "spiritual things are spiritually discerned. Therefore, I invite you to ask God to open our mind to His reality. This world is indeed involved in a "great controversy." And even though the outcome has grave cosmic ramifications, the battle is being fought on the soil of our minds. That is why I urge you to read this book prayerfully.
