In Jesus' parable of the great banquet, the master says, "Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled" (Luke 14:23, NKJV). Who are these hedge dwellers? Author Borge Schantz defines them as the world's forgotten people—people on the edges of rural and urban society, who need dedicated believers to share with them the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ by following this pattern for short-term missions.

Following are just some of the topics covered in this book:

  • Targets for Evangelism: Five Cultural Groups
  • A Lesson in Evangelism from David
  • Transitional People: a Target Audience for Evangelism
  • Wealth as a Hindrance to Accepting Christ
  • Paul and the Modern Missionary
  • Places Where Paul Worked
  • Long and Short Stays
  • The Financial Dilemma in Modern Missions
  • Lessons on Missionary Finance from Paul
  • Role of Women in Frontier Evangelism
