This present volume is designed to succeed the book Social Plans for Missionary Volunteers, which is now out of print. Several editions and revisions of Social Plans for Missionary Volunteers were made, and this book served very acceptably over a long period of years. It has been felt, however, that we should have a larger and more modern book for the youth of the church. Consequently, a committee was appointed by the Young People's Department of Missionary Volunteers of the General Conference to prepare the chapters setting forth the principles governing the recreational life of the Christian and to compile games for the new volume.
