The bright sunshine wakens Timmy very early on summer mornings. The sun has a lot of work to do on the long warm days--work such as drying clothes, bleaching stains, sweetening flowers, and coloring the ripening fruits and vegetables.
As Timmy and Debbie ask questions about their far-off friend they learn that sunshine is helpful, delightful, and beautiful. They also learn a lot of other things, such as how many miles they would have to travel to visit the sun (a lot more than a million!).
Filled with scientific facts, the book is nevertheless a story designed to hold the attention of all young children. God's power and creativity are woeven throughout the narrative.
