"If you want to go to Honduras, start packing." That isn't the typical beginning of a mission story, but then Jim and Florence Burchard don't fit the run-of-the-mill pictures of missionaries. They do represent an increasingly large number of Christians who have answered God's call to share His love with others on a self-supporting basis.

Someone Had to Hold the Lantern tells a number of the experiences they had while operating a dental clinic in Honduras. Since their four years in Honduras, the Burchards have volunteered to help with three mission projects in Central America and are presently working with the Layman Foundation in Belize.
