Jesus was very protective of the temple in Jerusalem. Although the temple was made with human hands, its services were of divine origin. During His short, three and a half year ministry, Christ twice cleansed the temple because of the terrible corruptions which had taken place in the divine services and administration connected with it. Colin and Russell Standish have looked at the similarities between ancient and modern Israel, and have addressed the tragedy of modern Israel, whose sins are far more culpable than the sins of ancient Israel and modern Babylon.
