The problem of selecting reading material suitable to open and close the precious Sabbath hours is one that confronts Christians each week. Too often, in desperation, the Psalms are thumbed through and a familiar verse is chosen, or a well-known chapter from Isaiah is quickly settled on, or perhaps a paragraph or two from the Spirit of Prophecy suffices. The sources are excellent, of course, but lack of careful planning tends to limit the blessing of considered preparation. There has been a need, therefore, for a source to which one can turn for appropriate, selective readings of suitable lengths.
Many of the selections in THOSE SABBATH HOURS are from the Holy Bible, the God-breathed Book. Others have been chosen for their warmth, deep spirituality, and abiding truths. With this in mind, the purpose of the book emerges: to give variety, beauty, and a new breath of inspiration to the hours of the Sabbath.
