The love of cooking was something I must have inherited from my mother. Our home always had the loving aromas of home-baked breads and other goodies served up daily at family dinners. Our repast was often shared with friends and acquaintances who were more than pleased to be invited back again.
When I married, it was a package that contained not only a husband, but also two teenagers and a younger sibling. After a few months, I resigned my office job and took up home duties full-time. That first year at home I began studying health and nutrition, and for the next 10 years, our journey progressed. Step by step we worked our way from a diet of some meat, lots of cheese, milk, and eggs, with copious amounts of refined food, such a sugar, white flour and fat, into a whole new way of thinking and eating.
The path wasn't always easy as we made choices for better health and educated our taste buds, but the changes have brought us much greater eating enjoyment than our previous lifestyle ever did. This little cookbook is a sampling of recipes from our table which can be eaten without guilt. It is my prayer that the recipes and tips shared here will be a blessing to you in your own journey toward more healthful living. Heather Leno
