TEACH Services received the following review: Donna Faye Anderson chronicles the life of her father-in-law, Gene Anderson, and his family with emphasis on both the challenges and the deep satisfaction of establishing a Seventh-day Adventist presence in the Chin Hills, which was known for its many adherents to animism. After establishing a mission center in the community of Tedim, the Andersons’ stay in the Chin Hills was cut short when government officials instituted a policy requiring local leadership for religious institutions. Nonetheless, the Seventh-day Adventist work in the region flourished and continues to this day with many Sabbath-keeping Christians populating the area of the Chin Hills. The book brings to life with descriptive word pictures of mission experiences, including many stories of answered prayers. Readers discover the means God used to introduce the villagers to the biblical doctrine of the seventh-day Sabbath. It is also fascinating to see how the Lord used Pastor Anderson, who was experienced in pastoral work and teaching, to provide much needed medical attention to the native people. Donna Faye adds delight to her account of the mission work with many anecdotes of the Anderson family life, including Gene’s wife, Lois, and their boys, David, Leslie, and Daniel. While this book focuses on Pastor Anderson’s role, it is even more an account of God’s marvelous leading and His use of a faithful missionary family to bring the everlasting gospel to the precious people of northern Burma. —Paul Hawks, retired pastor of the Ukiah Seventh-day Adventist church
