About the Book

It begins during the reign of King Uzziah who plays a major part in determining the parents of Isaiah. The mother rejects her baby who is then raised by his father, a court reporter in the palace.
Isaiah was an unwanted child, a reluctant prophet, who worked during the reigns of four kings. He overcame his hesitation and served for 60 years as a messenger for God, preparing the people of Judah first to survive the invasion of Assyria, then later to prepare for the more serious captivity under Babylon. He wrote many of the beautiful promises we memorize today that continue to comfort God’s people as we prepare for the Second Coming.

About the Author
After graduating from Andrews University, Virginia Smith married Pastor Calvin L Smith. While her husband often traveled in mission service, Virginia earned two master’s degrees and later a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Along the way, she added Bible study to her other enthusiasms.
She was director of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist’s Children’s Ministries Department for thirteen years, holding seminars in 73 countries. She desires to write biographies of the major Old Testament prophets to help young people see they were as real as we are. She and Calvin are retired at Asia-Pacific International University in Thailand.
