About the Book

“We should always be kind—out of self-interest if for no other reason. That kid next door who out-menaces Dennis the Menace might be your boss someday. That nerdy classmate might someday be one of your child’s teachers. That bratty cousin might be closer to you in a few years than any of your other eighty-seven cousins. Beware of road rage. That driver who upset you might be the oncologist you go to when an MRI shows you have a suspicious-looking growth in your abdomen. Sow kindness; reap kindness. If we hope to win others to Jesus, we must treat them kindly.”

This collection of articles written for the Adventist Review, along with other meditations, will touch your heart. Author R. Lynn Sauls offers his insights on a variety of subjects through these vignettes of life. He draws spiritual lessons from everyday occurrences that have enriched his life and blessed those who knew him and read his reflections. The short chapters will both inspire and encourage you as you press on through life. Choose your favorite seat, arm yourself with your favorite beverage, and prepare to have your heart warmed as you read.

“In this beautiful book filled with memories and insights, Lynn will also be your professor and friend as you travel with him through the decades. Enjoy the journey.” Andy Nash

The reader will be moved to tears as Lynn shares personal stories, observations, and experiences that will warm the heart and enlighten the mind. His way of telling common stories in a truly meaningful way will bring perspective to the readers as they learn not only what happened but why it happened. Open this book and be prepared to be blessed."

"Lynn Sauls blesses the reader with his devotional musings characterized by a gentle touch. Never dogmatic, often poetic, always insightful, he draws from a lifetime as an educator and lover of nature. His devotion to the Lord, his wife Helen, and God’s creation comes through clearly in these short essays."

  3. Thank you, Lynn, 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jul 2021

TEACH Services received the following review:
"When reading Lynn’s book, I was struck with two things, his love for his wife and the love for his lifelong friend and Savior. These are the thoughts that can come only from living long, living well, and living right. When you read Lynn’s words, you share the life of a servant that daily counts his blessings from above. If only we all lived and loved like Lynn, the world would be a better place. Thank you, Lynn."
~ Cameron Loss, High School English Teacher and Local Church Elder

  4. This admirable book will be cherished 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jul 2021

TEACH Services received the following review:
"Lynn Sauls, a long-time respected teacher of writers, has written an inspiring book that includes stories of his life and meditations about his
experiences and observations. The stories are filled with a Jesus-guided exuberance, and the meditations breathe a quiet but confident repose. It seems to me that this admirable book will be cherished especially by; reflective readers of writers such as Thomas Traherne, Henry David Thoreau, Annie Dillard, Philip Yancey, and Kathleen Norris.
~ Myron Wehtje, History Professor, emeritus, Atlantic Union College
