Music is a gift from God! When we sing praises to His name and play instruments for His glory, the angels join us in worship to the King of kings.
You Can Easily Play Hymns is a wonderful book for people who do not read music but want to be able to play hymns without needing to learn to read notes. The book contains easy-to-follow instructions and simple-to-understand pictures that enable you to play simple hymn arrangements on the piano or guitar.
After reading just two short chapters teaching you how to use the book, you will be able to play more than 150 easily written hymns such as "A Mighty Fortress," "Amazing Grace," "I Love to Tell the Story," "Jesus Saves," "Marching to Zion," "Praise Him! Praise Him!," "Rock of Ages," "Sweet Hour of Prayer," and many more classic hymns.
The words for each song are printed along with the music so that you can sing along or invite others to join you in lifting your voices in praise to God.
If you’ve never played the piano or guitar before but have a desire to, or if you are a beginner looking for wonderful music to play with minimal effort, You Can Easily Play Hymns is for you!
Sharlene Reyes, a resident on the beautiful island of Palawan in the Philippines, began playing the piano at five years of age and is now an experienced music teacher.
"Aside from opening a whole new world for people who never thought they could play an instrument, I also want my readers to gain a deeper appreciation for hymns," Reyes said. "Hymns are among the legacies of the Reformation to the church. They affirm faith and doctrine and are a tremendous source of encouragement for us as a body of believers."
Reyes is currently working as a private individual piano teacher. She also periodically conducts group piano classes for adult beginners with the goal of developing pianists for the many small local churches in her community that does not have anyone to play for their worship services.
Previously, she served for seven years, from 1992 to 1999, on the faculty of the Music Department at Adventist University of the Philippines, formerly known as Philippine Union College, in Silang, Cavite, where she taught music theory, ministry of music, and applied piano classes. She was invited to teach after her graduation recital for a course in creative music performance that she took at the University of the Philippines College of Music in Quezon City, Philippines.
Reyes is an active member of the Sta. Monica Seventh-day Adventist Church in Puerto Princesa City, the island's capital, where she serves as church clerk, adviser for the Adventist Youth Department, and coach/accompanist of the church's youth choir, Distinct Sound.
Aside from music ministry, she is also involved in lay medical missionary work. She trained with Wildwood Institute and has worked with them repeatedly through the years in the Philippines and Hong Kong and at the main Lifestyle Center in Georgia and the Health Retreat Center in Tennessee.

I am learning to play the recorder as an expression of worship. I am musically challenged and was having a hard time finding simple Christian music. I stumbled across this and wanted to give it a try. LOVE IT!! Love that the music is easier- within my beginners scope- and having the notes included gave me the confidence to dig right in. I am trying to teach myself notes but it is stress free to have them available. I use this book regularly and highly recommend it.
